The Catholic Faith

Fr. Chris Alar Explains the Faith

The Catholic faith is both human and divine. In her divine nature she is perfect. In her human nature she has, as humans do, fallen from grace on many occasions. What followed was schism and the Reformation, from which Protestantism emerged. Today there are 40K Protestant denominations all claiming to be the true faith as founded by Jesus Christ. Could there be 40 truths? Is it Bible alone, faith alone, or grace alone that saves us? Only one church has the answer because only one church has fullness of the truth.

In this series Father Chris Alar takes us through the divine nature of the Church, as built on the person of Peter when Jesus said to him:

“And I say to you, that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.”

“And I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. And whatever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven. And whatever you shall loose on earth shall be loose in heaven.”

Matt 16:18-19

We Dare to Say

Resource on the Lord’s Prayer

We Dare To Say is a resource for small group faith-sharing and for individual meditation, featuring five sessions each based on a line from the Lord’s Prayer. Each session includes scripture, prayers and a reflection with questions. The connection of the Our Father with the sacraments and the devotional life is explored, and wisdom from the saints is offered for the spiritual growth of group participants and individuals alike.

We Dare to Say is available as a 52-page, full-colour booklet which you can purchase via our online store. Alternatively you can download A4 PDFs of each of the five sessions by clicking the buttons below.

A booklet can be purchased for £3 on https://aec.rcaos.org.uk/prayer2024
